Our Founder’s Story

Tanisha  Francis

CEO & President

The founder and president of the DC Mentorship Program, Tanisha Francis, is a powerful example of how opportunity can transform a life. Despite facing countless difficulties, like living without running water or stable electricity for years, with the selfless support of family members and even strangers—such as Ms. Janet, a humble street vendor in Downtown Kingston who regularly provided her with essential school supplies free of charge—seeds of hope were planted that shaped her path forward. Today, Ms. Francis is a college graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. She credits all the powerful acts of love, be it great or small, for her perseverance and success. She is inspired by her journey to pass it forward and empower young people across the globe. DCMP was born as an avenue to pass on the blessings she received, and ensure that the next generation of youth has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. She takes great joy in working with each and every young person and so blessed and encouraged by the bright ray of hope that shines from their lives.

Core Values

The values of DCMP are inspired by the many incredible individuals who have touched the life of our founder, Ms. Francis:

Love:

Leading and managing an organization like DCMP involves many challenges and sacrifices, but what drives us forward is the deep, genuine love we have for youth development

Selflessness:

Everything we do at DCMP is done with selflessness. Our program requires no registration or membership fees from students because the opportunities we provide are gifts meant to empower them. However, the one thing we ask in return is for our students to show up, seize the opportunities, and commit to becoming the best versions of themselves—and to pass on the same kindness to others.

Hope:

When we look into the eyes of our youth, we see a future brimming with potential. We believe wholeheartedly in the capabilities of our superstars! Despite the obstacles they may face, we are confident in their ability to overcome challenges. Through our mentorship, we equip them with the skills and tools not just to survive but to thrive.

Focus:

DCMP was founded with a singular focus on youth empowerment. As we continue to grow, we remain dedicated to this purpose, always prioritizing quality over quantity in the impact we make. We will never lose sight of why we do what we do—to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young people, making informed decisions about their future, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive and become valuable contributors to society.
